Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens is lush and filled with sweeping views of the Ko’olau Mountains.

Located in Kaneohe, the gardens is a popular place for tourists and locals alike. You’ll find ferns and beautiful flowers indigenous to the islands as you stroll the many trails along the lake.
The highlight of our trip to Ho’omaluhia Gardens, though, was the free fishing offered to the public. Poles and bait were provided by the park at no cost. The poles were equipped with barbless hooks as the fishing was strictly catch and release.

Some of the kids were successful, catching a few koi fish here and there. But some of them caught nothing but weeds.

All in all, it was a beautiful day spent spent fishing at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens.
Ho’omaluhia Gardens is located at 45-680 Luluku Road in Kaneohe on the island of O’ahu.
